The Cole/Giadom Campaign Organisation says it would spare nothing in its arsenal to ensure that the candidate of the AAC, Engineer Biokpomabo Awara emerges as the next governor of Rivers State.
To this end, it has urged teeming members of the APC as well as well meaning people of the State to rally their support behind the African Action Congress gubernatorial candidate.
The campaign organisation said through its Spokesman, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke, that Pastor Tonye Cole and the APC decided to throw their weight behind Engineer Awara after careful consideration.
‘We have considered all of the options before us and we are convinced that Engineer Awara is eminently qualified in every respect to govern Rivers State.
‘The Rivers State needs someone who is level headed, cultured and focused to serve as governor. We have found these qualities in Engineer Awara. Government House shouldn’t be allowed to turn into the abode of men who behave like touts.
“All candidates, including the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Pastor Tonye Cole were part of the decision to support Engineer Biokpomabo Awara of the African Action party.”
It explained that the choice of Engineer Awara was made collectively by the party leadership after many days of serious deliberations.
“The Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi is the Leader of the APC, but this was not his personal decision. The decision to back Engineer Awara was made by the entire leadership of the party after serious and far reaching deliberations.
“We are determined to kick Governor Wike out of Government House, and we shall spare nothing in our arsenal to ensure that he is defeated through the ballot box”, the APC flag bearer emphasised.
The APC said it was ludicrous for anyone to say that no one born of a woman would stop him from being governor of Rivers State.
The party said that Governor Wike’s remark in this regard was a complete insult to motherhood and indeed all men who are born free.
“Women have inherited the responsibility of carrying and giving birth to children. Wike has shown complete disregard for women and motherhood. Worse still, he has created the impression that men do not matter.
“We are not surprised that Governor Wike will utter such a contemptous remark. Able bodied youths born of women and hard working men have been slaughtered under the watch of his administration.
“The time has come to liberate the Rivers people who suffer everyday under the heavy hand of a tyrannical leader. This is why we insist Wike must go.”
The APC flag bearer re-iterated his strong belief in the principle of power rotation, saying it smacked of desperation for Governor Wike to deny the Kalabari and the good people of Rivers State of the right to present governorship candidates on different party platforms.
