Governor Nyesom Wike has declared that his administration will root out cultism in Rivers state by taking the fight to the cultists because “enough is enough”.
Governor Wike said this when the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers paid him a visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt to congratulate him on his re-election.
It was the first time the Governor publicly spoke on the recent upsurge in cult-related killings and associated crimes in the state, especially in some communities in Obio-Akpor, Emohua, and Khana Local Government Areas.
He also promised to ruthlessly deal with armed robbery, kidnapping and other social vices in Rivers state. He said he has met with the State Security Council and modalities were worked out on how to rid the state of crime.
Correspondent Emeka Ortuka reports that Governor Wike also issued a warning to stakeholders in Rivers Stater not to attempt to seek the release of any suspected cultists that will be arrested by the security agencies.
